DIN 2303
The DIN 2303 standard “Welding in the field of defense technology” defines specific requirements and quality standards for welding in the field of defense technology. The standard defines different component classes depending on the complexity and critical function of the components as well as the safety classes according to their use in the military sector.




The certificate of manufacturer qualification for defense technology
Laser welding technology(laser welding) is one of the most effective joining processes for defense technology due to its high precision in the processing of components and good process stability. In order to meet the specific quality requirements for the manufacture and repair of defense technology products, all certified companies must prove that they are qualified manufacturers of components for military use and that their processes comply with the high quality and safety standards by means of a current manufacturer’s certificate in accordance with DIN 2303.
The operating certificate in accordance with DIN 2303 lists all processes that were inspected and evaluated as part of the certification process. In the area of laser processing for defense technology at BLS, this concerns process 52 “laser beam welding” with the variants “solid-state” and “gas laser beam welding” as well as “laser deposition welding” and “laser powder deposition welding”.
Since February 2022, BLS Lasertechnology GmbH has held a certified certificate of manufacturer qualification in accordance with DIN 2303 for the following processes:
- “521 Solid-state laser beam welding” / “522 Gas laser beam welding” / “Laser powder deposition welding”
- for these material groups: 1.4, 2.1, 8.1, 11.1,
- for the quality classes Q1 (with general requirements) and Q2 (with special requirements),
- for relevant work of component class BK 1 (non-flying parts).
